Archbold Logistics enhances fleet performance thanks to the arrival of 10 new MAN Tractors.
Archbold Logistics, headquartered in Haywood within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, has recently received 10 new MAN TGX tractors. Featuring the range-topping MAN TGX GX cabs, the 10 new vehicles are uniform in specification, all being 6x2 26.480 models with mid-lift axles. At 2,440 mm wide, the GX cabs provide drivers with an ergonomically designed, safe, secure and comfortable workspace, featuring two bunks, copious interior storage, and unimpeded cross-cab access.
All 10 vehicles are powered by MAN's latest-generation Euro6E-compliant, six-cylinder D26 engines, with a displacement of 12.4 litres and an output of 480 hp (375 kW). This engine range is recognised for its cost-effectiveness and high fuel efficiency. Additionally, the lightweight construction of the D26 engine improves payload efficiency, enhancing overall vehicle performance and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
Founded in 1919, Archbold Logistics is a fourth-generation, family-run business with over a century of experience in road transport. The company continues to uphold traditional values and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. Alan Maher, Managing Director at Archbold Logistics Limited, stated, "The primary objective of our business is to provide customers with a level of service that consistently exceeds their expectations throughout the year.
To achieve this, we prioritise people and organisational culture across all aspects of our operation." "Our drivers are essential to the success of the business. They work hard, frequently spend time away from home, and interact directly with customers.
Therefore, it is crucial to provide them with a vehicle that meets their requirements, and the MAN TGX fulfils this need." "We operate a diverse fleet of approximately 150 vehicles, ranging from 2.5-tonne vans to 44-tonne articulated trucks, with a significant proportion being MAN models. Our TGX tractors consistently demonstrate strong performance, deliver excellent fuel efficiency, and receive highly positive feedback from our drivers."
Once inside the cab, the Archbold drivers are met by a leather, ergonomically designed, multi-adjustable, multifunction steering wheel; a 12.3-inch colour display with HD resolution, Satellite Navigation, MAN's revolutionary SmartSelect truck-optimised Infotainment control, Bluetooth connectivity and a light, contemporary interior with brushed aluminium-effect trim. The luxurious Alcantara upholstery adds to the 'feel good' effect, as do the dimmable LED night-time living lights, the DAB radio, and an under-bunk fridge. Drivers are assured of a good night's sleep thanks to the 110 mm cold-foam comfort mattress and a 24-volt, 4kW auxiliary heater.
To address safety requirements, which are fundamental to the Archbold business, each new vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced MAN Trucks technologies. These include Electronic Braking System (EBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Change Support (LCS), Driver's Airbag, Active Brake Assist (ABS), Anti-Slip Control (ACS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). Archbold Logistics, headquartered at Birch Business Park in Heywood, is situated 2 miles from the M66 and 4 miles from the main M66/M62 junction.
The company operates a customer-centric business platform that functions continuously throughout the year. Archbold Logistics provides a comprehensive range of logistics services, including nationwide contract logistics, pallet distribution, and express services across the UK. Leveraging the expertise of its experienced multilingual team, the company also delivers a complete suite of worldwide freight solutions to over 150 countries by both sea and air.
Furthermore, the 9,500-square-metre Archbold warehousing facilities offer customers state-of-the-art, safe, and secure storage solutions for over 8,500 pallet spaces.
2,500 pallets are processed weekly across the Archbold UK facilities. Alan concluded, "We continue to operate MAN Trucks for a number of reasons, putting it simply, they offer outstanding value for money. Furthermore, the high level of service and wrap-around care we receive from both MAN and our local MAN dealership, Steadplan of Rochdale, is second to none."
The 10 new vehicles were prepared and PDI'd by MAN's franchised partner, Steadplan of Rochdale (The Old Railway Yard, Fishwich Street, Rochdale, OL16 5NA). Steadplan will service and maintain the vehicles throughout their working lives. Archie Paskin, MAN Truck & Bus UK Fleet Sales, commented: "I would like to thank Alan and the team at Archbold Logistics for the continued support in MAN and the long term relationship.
"Having a close and established relationship with Archbold Logistics means we have an understanding of the operation and how our high level of service both adds value to Alan's business and looks after his drivers' wants and needs. I am convinced these vehicles will serve them well." All MAN vehicles are supported by MAN Truck & Bus UK's Nationwide Commercial Vehicle Dealer network, with many operating extended hours, including round-the-clock servicing and customer-tailored solution maintenance.
The entire MAN range benefits from MAN's Mobile24 24-hour assistance service, which provides customers with a professional roadside partner throughout Europe 365 days a year.
