Renault Trucks C440 tippers join Kane Group fleet in first order

The Renault Trucks C440 has been chosen by Kane Group as part of a 10-vehicle tipper order, marking the operator's first move into the Renault Trucks brand. The South East-based demolition and earthworks contractor will deploy the eight-wheelers across its Kane Haulage operation. Supplied by Renault Truck Commercials, Chiltern, the Renault Trucks C440 units are entering service in phased deliveries.

Several vehicles are already operational, with the remainder arriving in the coming weeks. Based in St Albans, the fleet will typically operate within a 30-40 mile radius. Duties include muck-away, aggregate movements and support for larger projects across the region.

Annual mileage is expected to reach around 80,000km per vehicle. Andy Kane, Owner and Managing Director, said: "We carried out a thorough review of the market and looked closely at the whole-life cost of the vehicles rather than just the headline price. "Renault Trucks stood out in terms of the overall package."

Built for demanding site work

The Renault Trucks C440 P8x4 Off Road specification combines a 13-litre Euro VI engine producing 440hp with an Optidriver automated transmission.

Each vehicle operates at 32 tonnes GVW and features a reinforced chassis and off-road suspension. Thompson steel tipping bodies are fitted to handle heavy-duty construction and muck-away work. The specification is designed for durability in harsh site conditions, where reliability and uptime directly affect productivity.

Driver comfort and safety focus

Driver feedback has been positive following early deployments of the Renault Trucks C440 fleet.

Cab features include a comfort seat, air conditioning and a digital media touchscreen with DAB radio. Safety systems include side radar, a moving-off information system and a reverse camera. Andy Kane added: "The drivers have been very happy with them so far.

They're comfortable, well laid out and easy to live with."

Maintenance and uptime support

The Renault Trucks C440 units are supplied with three-year repair and maintenance agreements. They also include Renault Trucks' Excellence Predict system. This uses vehicle data to identify potential component wear before failures occur.

Kane said: "The idea of identifying potential issues before they become failures is attractive. "In our operation, anything that reduces unplanned downtime is worth looking at." Renault Truck Commercials, Chiltern, supported the procurement process from evaluation through to delivery.

Mick Feeley, Transport Solutions Executive, said the decision reflected Kane Group's detailed approach to fleet investment.

Supporting a busy construction operation

Kane Group is a well-established operator in demolition, bulk earthworks and aggregate supply across the South East.

The introduction of the Renault Trucks C440 fleet strengthens its tipper operation as demand continues across construction and infrastructure projects.
