M56 crash live updates as drivers face 50 minute delays
A crash on the M56 has sparked long delays from Stretton to Runcorn. Traffic is building on the westbound motorway between junction 11 Chester Road and Junction 12 A557 (Runcorn). Two lanes have been closed following the crash, which was first reported at around 8am this morning, March 30, according to traffic monitoring website INRIX.
The AA Roadwatch reports severe delays of 50 minutes on the M56 Westbound between J10 A49 Tarporley Road (Stretton) and J12 A557 (Runcorn), with average speeds of 5MPH. Delays are also reported on the eastbound carriageway due to drivers slowing down to observe the incident. Delays of six minutes are reported between J14 A5117 (Chester Services/Helsby) and J11 A56 Chester Road (Preston Brook), with average speeds of 15MPH.
