A baby girl suffered serious injuries after a van crashed into two cars and a lorry in a hit-and-run collision on a motorway slip road in the UK.

Officers were called out to the northbound slip road at junction 29, in Bamber Bridge near Preston, at 4.25pm on Friday afternoon (February 15), following reports that a White Ford Transit van had collided with three stationary vehicles (a HGV and two cars).

Lancashire Police said the baby, who had been in one of the parked cars, was taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Officers said that following the crash, the driver and passenger of the Ford Transit Van left the scene.

It is believed they both have serious injuries and the force said it is 'concerned for their welfare'.

Sgt Ben Elliott, from Lancashire Police, appealed for the men to come forward and asked for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch.

"A baby has been left seriously injured following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time," he said.

"Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate two men, the driver and passenger of the White Ford Transit van, and I can reassure you were are doing everything possible to find them.

"We are particularly concerned for them as we believe they sustained serious injuries in the collision, and strongly encourage them to come forward to us.

"I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance. If you have dashcam or CCTV[1] footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us.

"We are also aware that there may be people who witnessed the collision that we haven't yet spoken to. If this is you, or if you know someone who was travelling on that road at the time, please let us know."
