A1(M) southbound lanes reopen after York
The southbound carriageway of the A1(M) between junction 44 for the A64 and junction 43 - the Hook Moor Interchange for the M1 - was closed at around 1pm. In an update posted on X around 3pm, National Highways said two lanes had reopened with the road opening fully around 3.45pm. Seven miles of congestion have been reported on the approach to junction 44, adding an hour to normal journey times.
West Yorkshire Police were at the scene carrying out investigation work and National Highways Traffic Officers were assisting with traffic management.
The highways agency said a diversion route has been set up and said road users are advised to obtain further information via www.trafficengland.com.[1]
