London Fire Brigade fetches the electric engines

The trucks replace two diesel models that have been in the service for more than two decades and are designed to transport firefighting equipment across the capital. Supplied by Babcock, the vehicles feature advanced telematics for real-time performance monitoring and energy efficiency to ensure LFB can maintain service standards while reducing environmental impact. The delivery builds on Babcock's fleet management partnership with LFB that has been in place for more than a decade and includes electric pumping appliances and specialist vehicles for extreme weather conditions.

Sandy Donald, Babcock's LFB fleet contract director, said: "These electric lorries are a UK first and a significant step forward in helping LFB lead the way in sustainable emergency response.

"We are proud to support LFB delivering on its fleet strategy and will continue to transition the remainder of their complex and dynamic fleet and equipment over the coming years."

The company added it had also replaced LFB's training car fleet with EV variants as well.
