Katem marks 30 years with new Renault T Highs
Katem Logistics has marked two big milestones - 30 years in business and founder John Davison's 90th birthday - with the delivery of two new Renault Trucks T Highs from local dealer Thompsons. One of the trucks, finished in a special electric blue "anniversary edition", was presented to John as a surprise at his birthday celebration, attended by family, staff and customers. Founded in 1995 by John and his wife Clare, the Durham-based family firm runs a 50-strong fleet, including 37 Renaults.
The two new T Highs are part of its ongoing fleet renewal. Deputy managing director Matty Chaganis said: "We've invested heavily in fleet replacement in recent years, taking delivery of around 26 Renaults in the last 24 months. The T High is proving a real hit with both our business and our drivers - it's a premium, comfortable long-haul truck that's perfectly suited for our UK and European operations."
The anniversary truck has been assigned to Davy, a 76-year-old driver who has worked with the Davison family for decades. He continues to run international routes between the UK and France. The 520 bhp T High T6x2 Pusher comes with driver comfort features including a memory foam bunk, climate control, fridge and LED lighting, plus safety tech such as lane departure warning and emergency braking.
Katem buys its trucks outright and maintains them in-house.
"We've worked with Thompsons for many years and the service we get is second to none," Chaganis concluded.
