SR Harradine marks 25 years with new Volvo FMX
Cambridgeshire-based SR Harradine Haulage has added a new Volvo FMX 460 8x4 tipper to its fleet as part of its ongoing move towards running more Volvos. The truck replaces a vehicle from another manufacturer and marks the company's 25th anniversary with a special livery.
Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the FMX comes fitted with ABBA Predator bodywork.
Company founder Steve Harradine said: "We need vehicles that can handle tough workloads, keep maintenance costs manageable, and retain value when it's time to move them on. Volvo delivers on all those fronts.
Their build quality gives me confidence that the truck will perform reliably for years, which is exactly what I expect when I commit to a purchase of this size."
The FMX is powered by a Euro 6 Step E diesel engine producing 460 bhp and 2300 Nm of torque, paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox.
It includes construction/off-road software to improve traction and control at low speeds.
Built on a 5100 mm wheelbase with Volvo's X-High chassis for extra ground clearance, the truck is set up for demanding site and tipper work.
Inside, the day cab features a suspended driver's seat with dual armrests and a Media package that includes a 12-inch instrument cluster, navigation and DAB radio.
Safety kit includes Forward Collision Warning with emergency braking, Lane Departure Support, Side Collision Avoidance Support and Driver Alert Support, while visibility is boosted by heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and V-shaped LED headlights.
The new FMX joins a 30-strong fleet - 11 of which are now Volvos - and will cover around 100,000 km a year delivering aggregates across the east of England.
SR Harradine Haulage operates from its recycling yard in Chatteris, providing muckaway services and aggregate deliveries with grab and eight-wheeler trucks.
