Wycombe M40 and A404 Handy Cross traffic light ‘chaos’

Earlier today, September 23, Bucks Council confirmed that the traffic lights, maintained by National Highways, were not working and that the agency was awaiting parts to restore the lights. National Highways stated: "We identified an issue with one of the traffic light controllers on Sunday morning, which meant some of the lights at the roundabout weren't working. "A replacement part was sourced, fitted, and confirmed as fixed just before 11am this morning (September 23)."

Comments, attached to reports on FixMyStreet, stated that 'only half the traffic lights are working' at the roundabout, which has junctions with the M40 and A404. One comment stated that there was 'traffic chaos' for nearly 24 hours. Another said: "This is causing dangerous incidents especially at school times/work times!

"It has been like this for three days now!" A further report said: "Traffic lights on two exits of the roundabout are not working. This is since Friday."

The reports made on FixMyStreet have been forwarded to National Highways.

National Highways has been contacted for comment.
