Man dies in crash involving a ‘white horse box’ on the A404 between Handy Cross and Marlow

At around 2pm on Thursday, June 3, an accident happened on the southbound carriageway of the A404 between Handy Cross and Marlow.

The crash involved a white horse box and a pedestrian, who was a man in his 60s.

Sadly, the man died at the scene despite the best efforts of medical professionals.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the horsebox was not injured and no arrests have been made.

Investigating officer PC Mark Dunne of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Three Mile Cross, said: “Very sadly, this collision has resulted in the death of a man, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision, to please make contact with us.

“I would particularly like to hear from anybody who was driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage to please check this to see if it has captured anything that could assist our investigation.

A404 shut due to serious crash involving lorry and pedestrian

The A404 is shut because of a serious crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian. 

The A404 is closed southbound between Handy Cross and the A4155 at Little Marlow. 

Highways England said to expect delays, adding: “The A404 in Buckinghamshire is closed southbound between the M40 (J4) and the A4155 (near Marlow) due to a serious collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.”

Thames Valley Police said: “The A404 has been closed southbound between the Handy Cross roundabout and Marlow due to a serious road traffic collision.

“The road is likely to remain closed for some time and serious traffic disruption is anticipated. Please find alternative routes.”

‘Serious’ crash on A34 after lorry crosses central reservation – updates

A lorry has crossed the central reservation of the A34, causing a serious road traffic collision.

One lane is currently closed in both directions as a result of the incident.

The closure is in place between Abingdon North and Marcham Interchange.

Thames Valley Police[1] has warned that the closure is likely to be in place for many hours.

No one has been seriously injured in the crash, but the force has said that there is likely to be “significant disruption in the area”.

Lorry accident shuts major road in Maidenhead

A stretch of the A308 was closed on Saturday night (May 8) following an accident involving a lorry.

Recovery work is taking place on the eastbound carriageway following the incident from Braywick roundabout into Maidenhead[1].

Thames Valley Police[2] warned motorists that the road was likely to be closed for up to two hours from 8.30pm while the lorry was removed from the inside of the roundabout.

The closure added to congestion in the area, with traffic being diverted around the Braywick roundabout during the weekend-long closure of the M4 in both directions between junctions 8 and 6.

Thames Valley Police said in a tweet: “WARNING ROAD. CLOSED 20:30 hrs From Braywick Roundabout into Maidenhead for 1 to 2 hours while a lorry is recovered from the inside of the roundabout . Please use alternative routes.”

Traffic monitoring service Inrix said: “Delays expected due to a full road closure across the weekend until the early hours of Monday morning for roadworks on M4 in both directions between J8/9 A404 / A308 (Maidenhead) and J6 A355 (Slough-Windsor).

“Note that the A308(M) eastbound, which forms part of the diversion route for the M4 closure, is itself closed while a lorry which was involved in an accident earlier is recovered.”
