Police bring M6 concern for welfare incident to safe resolution after nearly three hours of full motorway closure

Police were able to safely resolve an incident which resulted in the motorway being closed in both directions for several hours. Officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called to a concern for welfare incident on the M6 at around 9pm last night (6 September). Emergency services rushed to the scene and the motorway was closed in both directions between junction 32 for the M55 and junction 33 near Garstang.

The motorway was closed until around 11.40pm when the closures started to be lifted after police were able to bring the incident to a safe resolution. Traffic was flowing well on the M6 and the wider road network on Sunday morning (7 September).
