Gregory Group has been crowned the 2025 Motor Transport Low Carbon Award winner, recognising the Group's exceptional achievements in reducing environmental impact and driving sustainable change in the logistics industry. Setting the standard for low carbon transport The Motor Transport Low Carbon Award celebrates organisations that have successfully delivered measurable reductions in carbon emissions, invested in innovative technologies, and demonstrated sector-leading environmental strategies.
Gregory Group's success reflects a long-term commitment to carbon reduction through clear targets, practical action, and ongoing collaboration with customers. The comprehensive sustainability programme has been designed to ensure Gregory Group's customers have everything they need to reach their logistics sustainability goals. Key achievements and initiatives
- A clear, measurable plan: Near-term emission reduction targets have been validated by SBTi (Science Based targets initiative) and a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment is carried out every year to ensure the Group stays on course.
- Fleet decarbonisation: Gregory Group has invested in HVO, LNG, CNG, and battery electric technologies with 18% of the 1,400 fleet now operating on low-carbon fuels.
- Beyond low carbon fuels: Gregory Group is also looking beyond low carbon fuels, working closely with customers and partners to optimise operations. From developing technology that optimises routes to working with trailer manufacturers to increase payload.
- Bringing the team onboard: Critical to Gregory Group's sustainability agenda is the provision of training and tools to help their people realise sustainability improvements. This has included an electric HGV roadshow to help familiarise drivers with a new way of working and training to help reduce emissions through cruise control, throttle usage and idling time.
- The results: the hard work has paid off with the last financial year reporting a 19% reduction in emissions, putting the Group ahead of the Scope 1 SBTi validated target.
Angela Butler, Managing Director, who collected the award on behalf of Gregory Group, commented:
"Winning the 2025 Motor Transport Low Carbon Award is a testament to the hard work and vision of our people. Our commitment to embrace change that reduces our impact on the planet is becoming a reality and we are delighted to be recognised with this award. Our journey to support our customers with their decarbonisation ambitions will continue and in partnership we are driving positive change. We are delighted to be at the forefront of our sector's transition to net zero."
Paul Jefferson, Group Legal & Sustainability Director, added: "We couldn't have reached this point without the collaboration of our customers and partners and winning this award will be a landmark occasion that firmly signals a shift in our industry.
But we are far from done!
We recently became the first transport operator to gain approval under the RFAS Fleet Scheme to verify the greenhouse gas emission savings our renewable vehicles achieve for each customer and these industry firsts will continue until we, and our wider industry, achieve net zero."
