Serious Leeds A1M crash sees lorry leaving the road

A lorry has come off the road in a serious crash on a major motorway in Leeds. The lorry left the road on the A1 in Boston Spa at 1.20pm today (Tuesday, August 12). It came off the southbound carriageway[1] near junction 45 to the north Leeds village.

The motorway has been closed from the crash site, all the way to Tadcaster[2], while emergency crews attend the scene. West Yorkshire Police[3] have asked drivers to avoid the area. A force spokesperson said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a serious collision on the southbound A1(M) near Boston Spa in which a lorry has left the carriageway. "The southbound A1(M) is currently closed after junction 45.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
