Pair in hospital after road forced to close amid ‘police incident’

Police were alerted to the incident shortly after 10am on Wednesday, July 16. The collision happened on the B780 from Dalry to Kilbirnie in Ayrshire. Officers said it involved a car and a HGV.
Emergency crews raced to the area. After that, both drivers were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, for treatment. The vehicles have since been recovered.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the crash is underway.

During the incident, we reported that the road was closed due to it; however, it has since reopened. Stagecoach West Scotland's X36 service from Glasgow to Dalry via Beith was also disrupted amid the crash. A Police Scotland[2] spokesperson said: "The B780 road, from Dalry to Kilbirnie, has reopened following a crash involving a car and a lorry, which was reported around 10.05am on Wednesday, July 16.
"Both drivers were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
"The vehicles have been recovered.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
