Major Scots motorway shut down in both directions due to ‘ongoing police incident’

DRIVERS are facing major delays after a ‘police incident’ closed a stretch of a busy Scots motorway in both directions.

Huge tailbacks were reported on the southbound section of the M77 in Glasgow[1] tonight.

Cars have been stuck in traffic[2] since shortly before 7pm after the police[3] incident.

The nature of the incident is currently unclear.

However, the stretch of the motorway is closed at junction 2 near Silverburn Shopping[4] Centre.

Traffic Scotland alerted drivers to the crash this evening with a post on X, formerly known as Twitter[5].


“There is an ongoing police incident, police have closed the road in both directions”.

Amey SW Trunk Roads also posted about the incident.

It is currently unclear what sparked the police response.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
