M6 sees two lanes re-open after crash near Charnock Richard services

Two lanes on the M6 northbound have re-opened after a man was left in hospital with serious injuries. Lancashire Police closed the motorway between Junction 27 (Standish) and Junction 28 (Leyland) shortly after 10.40am on Friday (18 July). A van and a skip wagon, which was stationary, were involved in a crash[8] and van driver, aged in his 40s, is in hospital with serious injuries according to police.
One lane will remain closed throughout Friday night near to Charnock Richard services where the crash happened[9] as National Highways North West crews work to resurface the motorway. The M6 has been fully closed northbound until shortly before 5pm on Friday, the southbound closure was lifted before lunchtime but delays have remained there past the scene. Three miles of congestion remains on the approach to the crash scene as of 5pm on Friday.
Lancashire Police are continuing to appeal for information and witnesses. Anyone with information or who has footage of the crash is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 0462.
