HARSH Hydraulics Power New MAN Artic Tipper for H.Walton

H.Walton Ltd has added a new MAN TGX tractor unit to its fleet, fitted with a bespoke HARSH hydraulics system designed to boost performance and versatility for agricultural use. The high-roof 6x2 sleeper cab unit comes with a 520hp engine and joins a mixed fleet of 30 vehicles run by the East Yorkshire-based corn and feed merchant. Designed for both tipping and blower operations, the new truck reflects the company's approach to vehicle productivity and long-term reliability.
Jason Walton, director of H.Walton Ltd, explained: "It's really all about how much productivity we can squeeze out of a truck from its working day. We try to balance premium truck spec with high payload, and in our experience, top-class trucks always pay us back."
Purpose-Built Spec for Demanding Work
The HARSH hydraulics package was built to H.Walton's specifications and installed by HARSH's Peterborough depot. The system allows dual functionality--either raising the trailer body or powering a blower unit for extended product discharge.
"We're now moving away from trailers with their own donkey engines," said Jason. "This setup is quieter, lighter, and more efficient. All the power to the blower now comes from the truck engine via the gearbox and PTO." The MAN is paired with a new Muldoon single-compartment trailer--the first in the fleet with smooth plank-sided construction.
This offers improved aerodynamics, lower weight, and easier cleaning. With the full setup, the unit offers up to 28 tonnes payload. Other notable features include a lightweight mid axle with 19.5-inch wheels and Alcoa polished alloys.
The HARSH system includes a 300-litre oil tank, relocated batteries with aluminium covers, and a chequerplate catwalk. As with all HARSH kits, the layout is simple and practical. "Drivers find HARSH equipment easy to use and safe," Jason added. The final vehicle handover was carried out by HARSH service engineer Nick Tansley at H.Walton's Goole base.
H.Walton Ltd was founded nearly 70 years ago and today serves a wide area from the Scottish Borders to the Midlands.
With deep roots in farming and feed supply, the firm continues to invest in top-tier equipment to meet growing demand.
