An incident on the motorway network that caused disruption was safely resolved by emergency services. Police were called to the M61 between junction 8 and 6 at around 4am this morning (24 June) to reports of a concern for welfare incident. The carriageway was closed in both directions while emergency services worked to resolved the incident.[9]
The M61 has since been reopened in both directions, although the closure did impact early morning commuting. The incident was safely resolved, police told Blog Preston, with the carriageways reopen to traffic from around 7am. The M61 has since returned to normal morning traffic levels, although there is congestion heading southbound where the motorway joins with the M60.
