Lorry and car crash on major road leaves lane closed

A crash involving a lorry and a car on the A14[1] in Cambridgeshire[2] left one lane closed on Monday (May 2). The incident on the A14 westbound at junction 22 took place at around 10.16am. Traffic was heavy for more than two hours, before the lane reopened.

Traffic monitoring company Inrix reported during the incident: "One lane closed and heavy traffic due to accident on A14 Westbound at J22 A1 (Brampton Turn Off)." A Cambridgeshire Police[3] spokesperson confirmed that the crash involved a lorry and a car. The crash was reported at 10.16am.

A spokesperson for the force continued at around 12.10pm: "A vehicle is due to be recovered and will require lane closures, which will impact on traffic building up around the area." The closed lane had been reopened by 12.40pm, and traffic began easing.
