Fleet Contributes to King’s Award Win for Vertas Group

Vertas Group is one of the largest integrated facilities management companies in Great Britain. Committed to sustainable growth and excellence, the company delivers a wide range of essential services, including catering, cleaning, passenger transport, security, grounds maintenance, property design, and workforce solutions. Having recently announced that the business has been honoured with the 2025 King's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, Vertas Group is one of only twenty-seven organisations to receive this national accolade.
The award reflects the company's outstanding commitment to environmental responsibility and its ongoing efforts to make a meaningful difference for its people, customers, stakeholders, and the planet. Vertas Group has made significant strides in enhancing fleet efficiency and sustainability through its partnership with Trakm8, a leading fleet management specialist. This partnership set a benchmark for the industry, resulting in an impressive 57.5% reduction of carbon emissions and a royal win.
Managing a diverse fleet of 313 vehicles - including vans, pool cars, mini-buses, and coaches - the company is committed to further reduce its carbon footprint and its GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2021 baseline year, with a near-term target of reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. In a bid to support these sustainability goals, Vertas integrated advanced telematics technology into its fleet by partnering with Trakm8. The collaboration began with the installation of Trakm8's Connect 330 plug-in solution, which provides real-time data on vehicle and driver performance.
Later in the year, Vertas will further upgrade its system to include the RH600 telematics camera, one of the most advanced 4G integrated telematics cameras in the UK. This system combines telematics data with an in-cab camera, offering a comprehensive view of fleet management to improve both operational efficiency and driver behaviour. The implementation of Trakm8's technology followed a two-phased approach.
The first phase saw the installation of the Connect 330 plug-in solution across Vertas' commercial fleet of 298 vehicles. This provided immediate improvements in fleet efficiency, allowing Vertas to monitor and optimise driver behaviours in real-time. The second phase, set for later this year, will see the introduction of the RH600 telematics camera.
This advanced system will provide deeper insights into vehicle performance and driver behaviour, helping Vertas to further reduce emissions and improve overall fleet efficiency. Since implementing Trakm8's solutions in early 2023, Vertas has achieved substantial environmental and financial outcomes. Trakm8's technology allows Vertas to optimise fuel usage and reduce carbon emissions.
In addition, Vertas operates a pool fleet of 41 fully electric vehicles in collaboration with Suffolk County Council, which has led to the complete elimination of 56.35 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The shared Suffolk County Council and Vertas Pool Cars scheme is the only 100% full EV scheme of its kind in the country. Vertas are currently transitioning to a fully electric vehicle fleet by 2030, showcasing our unwavering commitment to sustainability and vision for a greener future.
Committed to accessibility, Vertas ensures inclusive transport for all, regardless of mobility needs. A flagship example of this commitment is its partnership with Suffolk County Council. Vertas holds a PSV operations licence to transport children from their homes to school across Suffolk and a taxi operation that is 100% fully accessible.
This partnership includes transporting over 250 SEND pupils and around 1,000 mainstream students each day. Along with the 2025 King's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, Vertas was recently awarded the RoSPA Gold Fleet Safety Award 2025. This award recognises the business for excellence in managing occupational road risk and for continuing to demonstrate exceptional fleet operation practices.
This year was the first time that Vertas had entered the Fleet Safety Award category, and winning the Gold Award the first time is an incredible achievement. Vertas takes pride in delivering dependable, safe, and efficient transport services to schools, local authorities, and private clients across the UK. Over the next five years, private hire will be a major strategic focus as the company seeks to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new ones.
Whether you are planning a day at the races, a school trip, or simply need transport to the airport, Vertas offers a customised experience to take the stress out of travel plans.
By placing itself at the heart of local communities, Vertas gains vital insight into the communities it serves, informing services that truly meet their needs.
