A Century on the road: Prometeon honours Brit European’s 100-year legacy

Prometeon Tyre Group, a leading company in the commercial, agricultural and OTR tyre sectors, has proudly celebrated a significant moment in the history of one of its longest-standing customers, Brit European, who are marking an incredible 100 years in business. As a token of appreciation and recognition of this remarkable milestone, Prometeon Managing Director Steve Tift presented a bespoke model truck--replicating Brit European's striking golden anniversary livery--to Brit European MD Graham Lackey in a special ceremony at their headquarters. The event captured the spirit of celebration and mutual respect that has defined the relationship between the two companies for more than 30 years, a partnership built on shared values, technical collaboration, and trust.

Founded in 1924 as Carmans Transport, Brit European began with a single horse-drawn tanker collecting milk from farms in Cheshire. A century later, the Middlewich, Cheshire-based company has grown into a major European transport player, employing hundreds across the continent and operating some of the most technologically advanced equipment on UK roads. Brit European, renowned in the UK's road transport sector for its innovation and resilience, has proudly showcased four specially liveried gold trucks across the country this past year, inviting the public to "Spot the Golden Truck" at events and on social media.

The initiative has been a hit with fans and reflects the company's celebratory approach to its centenary. The handover moment was photographed with both Managing Directors standing in front of one of the real golden trucks, symbolising the journey both businesses have travelled together. Steve Tift, MD of Prometeon UK & Ireland, commented: "This is more than just a celebration of a business anniversary--it's about honouring a shared journey.

Brit European has been with us through decades of evolution, and we've stood by them too, through industry shifts, brand changes, and innovations. The relationship we have is one of the purest partnerships I've seen. This model truck is a small gesture, but it represents something much bigger--trust, longevity, and mutual respect."

Graham Lackey, MD of Brit European, added: "Being in business for 100 years is no small feat, particularly in the transport industry, which is constantly evolving. Our relationship with Prometeon has been integral to maintaining the high standards we pride ourselves on. Their attention to detail, proactive service, and genuine understanding of our needs are what keep us coming back."

A key factor in the successful partnership has been Prometeon's proactive approach to fleet support, with regular audits and operational insight ensuring maximum tyre performance and safety across Brit European's 300+ strong fleet. These audits--conducted quarterly--help to identify potential issues early, such as pressure anomalies or irregular wear patterns, enabling swift corrective action and enhancing both safety and cost-efficiency. Paul Birch, Fleet Engineer at Brit European, said: "Prometeon's input and audits are second to none.

Their team helps us spot issues early--whether it's tracking, pressure, or general wear--and they're always focused on preventing problems before they start. It's clear they care about the long-term success of our fleet, not just supplying tyres." This hands-on approach is exemplified by Gary Lane, Prometeon's Fleet Development Engineer, whose long-standing relationship with Brit European reflects Prometeon's broader ethos of partnership and customer focus.

Lane added: "It's been a privilege to work alongside Brit European for many years. Their openness and collaborative spirit have made it possible to develop a truly effective support model." As both companies look to the future, their shared commitment to innovation and sustainability continues to strengthen their partnership.

Prometeon brings advanced digital fleet management systems and cutting-edge tyre technology, while Brit European continues to set new standards with initiatives like its state-of-the-art Vita Nova Centre--opened in 2023 and designed to enable off-grid operations and support the company's ambition to achieve carbon neutrality within seven years.
