A drive-thru McDonald's restaurant could be built at Tickled Trout services after plans were lodged with the local authority. The site, just off junction 31 of the M6 motorway east of Preston, lies within the South Ribble Borough Council[11] boundary.
Under the plans submitted by McDonald's, the restaurant would be built on derelict land between the existing petrol station at Tickled Trout and the A59 Preston New Road. The new restaurant would sit next to an incredibly busy route in and out of Preston. Pic: McDonald's.
A risk assessment accompanying the application describes the proposed location of the restaurant as follows: "The site was undeveloped until 1996 when it was indicated to be used as amenity area for an adjacent hotel.
"Around 2002 it was converted for use as an overflow car park with landscaping. It was proposedto be re-developed as an underground car park in 2004. "According to the planning records available on the South Ribble Borough Council website, thesurrounding area to the north and west has undergone significant development, re-development andextensions dating back to 1974, including a hotel, a service station and a petrol filling station (PFS).The PFS was indicated to have been re-developed in 1984 and 1987."
