Firefighters cut person from lorry after major crash on A-road

Firefighters cut someone from a lorry after a crash on the A14[1] this morning (April 17). Cambridgeshire[2] Fire and Rescue crews from Huntingdon[3] and St Neots were called to the three-vehicle lorry crash on the A14 westbound just after 3am. Firefighters had to release one person from a vehicle. A fire spokesperson said: "Two crews from Huntingdon and two crews from St Neots were called to a road traffic collision between Brampton and Ellington this morning shortly after 3am.
The collision involved three lorries. "Two casualties were out of their vehicle on arrival and firefighters used specialist equipment to release one casualty from their vehicle. All casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service.
"The incident concluded at around 4.30am." A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at about 3am today (17 April) with reports of a collision involving HGVs on the westbound carriageway of the A14 near Brampton. Emergency services attended the scene.
One person has received minor injuries. "The road has been closed while the carriageway is cleared." A diversion is currently in place[4] following the crash. This is via the A1M to the Fletton parkway interchange, then to the A605 through Oundle to Thrapston to re-join the A14.
Cambridgeshire Police and East of England Ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
