European Silk Road Summit 2024: a complete programme to connect the dots
With a few weeks remaining for the big meet-up of the Silk Road industry in Vienna on 27 and 28 November, RailFreight.com is thrilled to announce that the European Silk Road Summit 2024[1] conference programme is also complete! Here are some highlights that you don’t want to miss. A full conference day on 28 November[2] with tailored sessions and ample networking time will focus on the role of Vienna and Central Europe in Eurasian rail transport.
What makes Vienna a hotspot? How can companies benefit by including it in their networks and investment plans? On top of that, while looking at the bigger picture, the programme will focus on the growing Eurasian rail business, which is visible in volumes, the factors contributing to this growth, and the best practices to keep rail competitive.
Four tailored sessions
The four tailored Breakout sessions of the conference programme comprise the key highlights:
Breakout A: How does the Northern Route perform, and how do companies achieve growth while dealing with the limitations of sanctions? Breakout B: How do different market products and segments perform, and what’s the best approach to maintain high volumes on rail? Breakout C: What is the future of the Middle Corridor, considering its substantial growth and upcoming investments?
Breakout D: Last but not least, what are the latest policy developments in Europe, and how do they affect cross-border and potentially Silk Road transport? These and more questions will be addressed in interactive panel discussions and debates where the audience will be highly involved. The conference day will close with a plenary session that will address the challenges and bottlenecks of European infrastructure in relation to Silk Road traffic and how regional developments can affect a whole corridor.

Visit to Dunajska Streda
Another programme highlight is the site visit, which is becoming a staple of RailFreight.com events. This time, we will have the chance to tour METRANS’ hub in Dunajska Streda[5]. The visit will take place on 27 November.
The Hub in Dunajska Streda boasts impressive numbers: a terminal area spanning 326,000 square meters and a stacking area covering 296,000 square meters. With an available trucking fleet of 223 trucks from long-term subcontractors, it offers a comprehensive intermodal solution for businesses worldwide. As a one-stop destination, it facilitates shipments to and from Europe in all directions.
By loading cargo once onto various container types such as 20 or 40-foot containers, open tops, reefers, tanks, or bulk containers, their experts ensure the selection of the best transportation mode for intact cargo delivery to the final destination. The site tour accommodates a limited number of people. Please note: You must register upfront to attend the site visit.[6]
After the site tour, all attendees will have the opportunity to join our cocktail drinks at the event venue, which is an excellent opportunity to network with professionals participating in the event.
