DSV and Volvo Trucks Collaborate on Sustainable Road Freight Solutions
In a significant step towards sustainable road freight solutions, DSV[1], a global leader in transport and logistics, has partnered with Volvo Trucks to deploy a total of 800 trucks across its operations in Europe. This deployment includes 300 zero-exhaust emission electric trucks and 500 Volvo trucks with fuel-efficient diesel and gas drive lines. Scheduled to be delivered between 2024 and 2026, this collaboration plays a crucial role in DSV’s ambitious plan to increase its electric truck fleet to 2,000 by 2030.
The partnership aims to make a substantial impact on reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable transport practices. President of Volvo Trucks, Roger Alm, expressed his pride in deepening the partnership with DSV and emphasized the significance of collaboration in driving sustainable transport and substantial CO2 reductions. This sentiment was echoed by Soren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, who emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in enabling decarbonization in the industry.
The collaboration will also see the introduction of the new Volvo FH Aero Electric trucks, which boast improved aerodynamics for enhanced energy efficiency. Notably, DSV has already established charging infrastructure using solar panels at its distribution centres in Landskrona and Horsens in Sweden and Denmark, where its electric trucks are currently in operation. Both DSV and Volvo Group are dedicated to the Science-based Targets initiative, aligning their emission reduction goals with the Paris Agreement.
DSV has set ambitious targets to reduce its emissions by 2030, while Volvo is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered over 3,800 electric trucks to customers in 46 countries, demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainable transportation. With a diverse product lineup catering to various applications, Volvo’s electric trucks have collectively covered more than 90 million kilometres in operation, reflecting the widespread adoption and impact of sustainable transport solutions.
