A1 crash causes delays after lorry leaves carriageway in Cambridgeshire

The A1 has reopened to traffic after a crash between Brampton and Alconbury saw a lorry leave the road. The northbound carriageway was shut to traffic at around 9.30am following the crash, which Cambridgeshire Police said involved a car, a lorry and a van. A full closure was in place until around 11.15am.

One lane remained closed on the road while emergency barrier repairs were taking place. Police reported minor injuries were sustained by those involved in the incident. Earlier delays on the road are now reported to have cleared.

One man was transported to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for further assessment and care."

A National Highways spokesperson said: "The A1 northbound between the A141 Brampton Hut & A1M/B1043 Alconbury has re-opened.

The lorry has been recovered however lane 1 (of 3) remains closed due to extensive barrier damage from the collision.

No significant delays are reported on approach."
