Innovative IVECO eDAILY duo join The AA’s growing electric fleet
A pair of highly specified IVECO eDaily have joined The AA’s expanding fleet of electric vehicles to deliver a zero-emissions recovery solution without compromise. The Automobile Association (The AA) – was formed back in 1905 and its wide-ranging recovery fleet is undergoing the biggest change in its 119-year history with zero-emission vehicles needed for these critical missions. An IVECO eDaily 7.2T with Dyson Powerloader and eDaily 4.25T CRT crew van are now on the road sporting The AA’s iconic colours.
The IVECO eDaily’s impressive payload and strong truck-based chassis make the 7.2T Powerloader one of the most capable electrified recovery vehicles in service. Thanks to the lightweight Roger Dyson bodywork, this EV can recover stranded vehicles weighing up to 3,000kg. With modern cars becoming increasingly heavy, it was essential that The AA’s latest EV could operate without compromise.
The innovative Powerloader body features a remote loading system with deployable ramps, something that boosts safety when loading stranded cars. Joining the eDaily 7.2T is an impressive 4.25T eDaily CRT crew van designed to not only recover a vehicle, but also host six occupants and the driver in comfort. Based on an eDaily crew van, customers can benefit from ‘AA’ embroidered leather seats and take advantage of a custom table complete with drinks holders and USB chargers for smart devices.
Victory Conversions installed a roller shutter at the rear of the vehicle to store the heavy-duty TowPro CRT unit when not in use. Once deployed, this EV can recover anything from motorbikes to 4x4s thanks to a towing capacity of 3,250kg when paired with The AA’s Freewheeling Hubs. Both highly capable electric vehicles can rapid charge at 80kW, with up to 62 miles of range added in less than 30 minutes.
The IVECO eDaily features an innovative modular battery system that enables operators to strike the perfect balance between payload and range. This 4.25T CRT and its 7.2T Powerloader sibling feature two battery modules each. Max Lamon, winner of The AA’s Recovery Patrol of the Year 2024, said: “The AA’s strapline of ‘Always Ahead’ is perfectly embodied in our new IVECO eDaily recovery vehicles.
To be able to go electric highlights that forward-thinking ethos while ensuring we deliver the high standards our members expect. These EVs are returning impressive real-world range, excellent comfort, and responsive performance. I really enjoy driving them.”
Mike Cutts Business Line Director Full Range UK & ROI said: “These IVECO eDaily are perfect examples of how operators can make the switch to an EV without compromising their missions.
The AA has a prestigious reputation for innovation, with these class-leading eDaily continuing that tradition while helping to lower fleet emissions.”
