Live M6 updates as five people taken to hospital after crash closes motorway

The M6 is currently closed in both directions after a crash. Road closures were put in place on the motorway[1] between junction 32 and junction 33 this afternoon (Monday). Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

Lancashire Police[2] said the motorway is expected to be closed for some time due to a crash. A post from Preston Police on X, formerly Twitter, said: "The M6 J32-J33 is closed in both directions due to a road traffic collision. "We anticipate this will be closed for some time and will provide an update once cleared.
