M6 remains closed after serious collision near Corley Services as police plead ‘have empathy’
The M6 remains closed tonight following a serious collision. The motorway was closed southbound near Junction 3 for Corley Services following the incident at around 5.30pm tonight (December 14).
Warwickshire[1] Police said it had closed the carriages following a ‘serious road traffic collision’. In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, the force said: “The M6 Southbound near Junction 3 for Corley Services has been closed after a serious road traffic collision. Please plan your routes accordingly avoiding junction 3 of the M6.”
Emergency services have been working at the scene tonight including paramedics, National Highways traffic officer and police officers. The Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) confirmed the motorway was closed from junction 4a as it urged people to not stop at the scene and ‘have empathy’ for those involved.
A tweet from the CMPG read: “M6 southbound currently closed from 4a due to a serious incident currently being dealt with by Warwickshire police. Please have empathy for those directly involved
“Pls do not stop on the island and walk around in the dark to ask questions. Secondary incidents are not wanted.”
Traffic is being diverted via the M42 northbound, up until Junction 10. ( Tamworth[2] ) and along the A5 Watling Street before joining the M69. Traffic can also join the M42 southbound and exit at Junction 6 ( Birmingham Airport[3] / Coventry) and then along the A45 Coventry Road heading towards Coventry.
