77 Northern stations to have new customer information screens

To improve the display of information, train operator Northern is to install more than 100 new customer information screens at 77 of its stations.

They new screens have white LEDs that make them more legible from a further distance away. They also have a higher colour contrast than previous screens that makes them more accessible for passengers with some forms of visual impairment.

With the new screens, the display of train information is now in a clear and easy-to-read format that provides more information about when trains are delayed. The screens also have the capability to display safety messages, such as ‘short platform’ guidance.

Northern will now have a total of 387 screens at 167 stations, with some of the larger stations such as Bolton, Bradford Interchange and Sunderland having full colour.
