A horse was spotted roaming the M55 yesterday resulting in a road closure.

Yesterday evening (August 26), Edith Rigby Way in Preston was closed due to a horse trotting along the motorway.

Police issued a warning to drivers to be careful and find alternative routes while they dealt with the situation.

Thankfully, the horse wasn’t harmed and was soon safely secured into a trailer and the road and motorway junction reopened.

Providing an update on social media, a spokesperson for the police said: “We earlier advised that Edith Rigby Way, Preston at the M55 Junction was closed due to a loose horse.

“We can now confirm the horse has been secured into a trailer and the road and motorway junction have re-opened.

“Thank you for your patience.”

This was the second time yesterday an animal trotted the streets of Lancashire as cows were also seen roaming[1] the carriageway in Belmont.

The cows were moved out of Rivington Road and traffic was back to normal.
