Section of major Scots motorway CLOSED due to ongoing police incident

A SECTION of a major Scots motorway was closed this afternoon due to a police incident.

Emergency crews[1] were scrambled to the M8, at the White Cart Viaduct, after the alarm was raised around 12:45pm today.

Traffic remains heavy with delays of approximately 45 minutes

Drivers were warned of a 50-minute delay on approach to the closure and were asked to find alternative routes.

Cops[2] say they were called following reports of a concern for person near Junction 28 westbound.

All lanes later re-opened just after 3pm, but traffic remains heavy with delays of approximately 45 minutes.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.45pm on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025, officers were called to a report of concern for a person on the M8 at the White Cart Viaduct.


A Traffic Scotland statement reads: “All lanes now running following the earlier police incident.

“Traffic remains heavy on the approach this afternoon. Approximate 45-minute delay.”
