A SECTION of one of Scotland’s busiest motorways was shut after a crash involving multiple vehicles.
Drivers were delayed for more than half an hour after a part of the M8 was closed following the carnage today.

Transport Scotland initially said the road was restricted following the smash at junction 6A – 6 at Newhouse, North Lanarkshire.
The announcement was made on social networking site X at around 5.40pm.
It said: “The road is currently restricted eastbound due to a multi vehicle road traffic collision.
“Traffic is slow on the eastbound carriageway with currently a 15 minute delay.
Then 45 minutes later officials said the road was “closed” eastbound due to the ongoing incident.
Road users were then warned to use an alternative route and allow extra travel time.
Then just after 7pm the road was reopened again.
But restrictions were still in place.
They said the restrictions were causing a “34 minute delay” for drivers.

Then just before 7.30pm Traffic Scotland announced the incident was “over” and there were “no delays”.
