Solid transfer pump for fuel and oil
I recently got my hands on a 12V self-priming diesel fuel and oil transfer pump, and I must say, it’s been a solid addition to my toolkit. The pump can handle up to 13 gallons per minute, which is pretty impressive for its size. It really cuts down on the time it takes to transfer fuel or oil, especially when working with larger tanks or equipment.
What I appreciate the most is the nozzle design. It’s got a handle just like a gas pump, which makes the whole process feel familiar and easy. The handle is comfortable to hold, and the flow control is smooth, so you’re not dealing with any sudden surges or messes.
Installation was straightforward, and the pump primes quickly, which is a relief since waiting around for a pump to get going is the last thing you want when you’re on the job.
The pump seems solid and built to last, but the handle and hose are just plastic and will likely not endure the long run, particularly with regular use or in an industrial role.
Overall, if you need a reliable, fast, and easy to use transfer pump, this one does the job exceptionally well.
Compact and convenie
This pump is simple and straight forward. Everything you need to transfer any liquid, not just gas or diesel, even water as I have shown, but it isn’t recommended, is in the box except for the 12v battery or other power source that you provide. Hoses, clamps, nozzle and strainer basket are all here. The hoses are precut to length with the shorter hose most commonly used for the suction. They are reinforced with spring wire that will prevent the hose from sucking flat and also helps to make coiling and storing much easier and more practical. The pumps housing is all plastic making it light and easily portable.
The hose clamps deserve a review all on their own. I’m now retired, but over all my years, I spent several years as a mechanic and a multiskilled craftsman, I have dealt with a lot of clamps in my time and never had I ever seen one that a wingnut appearing handle instead of a slotted hex. For no more torque that you’ll need for securing these already nicely fitted hoses, twisting them with just your thumb and finger allows you to quickly make up or break down the pump and hoses before or after use, meaning not having to have a screwdriver handy to properly tighten and assemble. Thats pretty convenient actually. What else is pretty convenient is that the stand is already attached to the pump and has already been predrilled for mounting if necessary.
NOTE FROM THE MANUFACTURER: ” This transfer pump should not be used for pumping water or low-flammability fuels such as gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, or alcohol. After pumping, please turn off the pump power before closing the fuel nozzle”.
I only used water to show operation of the pump, as it’s the only test media I had available at the time of review.
Moving on to the nozzle, this is an all-plastic construction nozzle with the only metal being the return spring for the handle. One thing to note though, the nozzle is serviceable to the point, that you can remove the valve seat and spring to be able to remove any trash or debris that may have gotten in the way causing leakage out the nozzle. The same knob used to access the plunger and spring is also used to adjust the flow rate of the nozzle. To lower or slow the flow rate, just unscrew the knob counterclockwise until you have reached the desired rate. The nozzle is set to full flow when you receive it. The handle also has a spring-loaded locking feature similar as what you may find at your local pump, although I didn’t test to see if there was any kind of auto shutoff feature nor does the seller mention one.
Works great, really quiet, moves fuel quickly.
This pump works as advertised and seems to be of good quality. It really moves fuel (diesel, kerosene, fuel oil) and does it fast and it’s really quiet about it. The motor is strong, the pump a nice vane pump, meant for liquid fuels that will keep it lubricated. It has great head and good suction and it comes with everything you need including a fuel nozzle. It worked great transferring diesel from a 30 gallon drum into my sailboat’s tank and it only took a few minutes to do it. It’s a great little transfer pump.
The battery clamps for the wiring are fairly heavy duty for this pump, the wiring seems adequate and though I’d prefer a heavier gauge wire it didn’t heat up during my 20 minute use of the pump so it’s heavy enough. So long as you’re moving the liquids this pump is designed and advertised to move I see no reason for it not to last a long time. For the quality and function vs price I’d call it a good value. I’m quite happy with that quality and function so I do recommend this pump.
About the only complaint I have is the hose clamps. The ones I received are like thumb screws and the wing for tightening them is quite thin and this makes them not very comfortable to use. Other than that, everything was great.
Works great for the price
I was on the lookout for a new transfer pump kit. My old one started leaking, and for my job, I needed one pretty quick.
I saw this one hoping it would get the job done.
This item has a very nice setup. I’ve only used it a couple of times and so far it has worked really well.
I am a diesel mechanic by trade and this kit was easy to use. It did a great job of transferring diesel from a 55 gallon drum, to some end equipment I was using.
The battery clamps are strong and hold the pump securely. It has plenty of power and transfers the fuel quickly.
Everything you need is included in the package. I would order this again for a spare.
