Travel chaos as drivers warned to ‘be careful’ after incident on busy motorway

Drivers faced delays on the M77 this evening after a crash on the northbound carriageway between Newton Mearns and Darnley.

Traffic Scotland first reported at 17:07 that the M77 was restricted northbound between Junctions 3 and 4 due to a road traffic incident, warning: "The #M77 Junction 3 to 4 is RESTRICTED Northbound due to a road traffic incident. Drivers are advised to pass with caution and expect delays. @SWTrunkRoads."

The restriction was cleared at around 17:26, with traffic beginning to return to normal.
