Tragedy as biker dies after crash on Welsh motorway

A biker has tragically died following a crash involving an Audi car. It happened on the M4 near Newport on Thursday. Police are appealing for witnesses.

A Gwent Police statement yesterday (Friday) said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Newport. "Officers were called to a collision near junction 24 of the M4 at around 4.10pm on Thursday 19 March. "Officers attended along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance.

The collision involved a blue Audi Q8 and a white Triumph Trident motorbike." His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.

"Officers from the Roads Policing and Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and an investigation is now underway to determine the full circumstances of the collision; no arrests have been made.
