Palletline Appoints Carl Moore as CEO to Lead Growth
Palletline, the UK's leading palletised freight distribution network, has announced the appointment of Carl Moore as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2026, following a transitionary period after he joins the business in March. The appointment follows the announcement at Palletline's November Members' meeting that Graham Leitch would take over the role of Board Chairman when Forsyth Black completes his term at the end of June. This executes a carefully planned evolution of Palletline's leadership strategy as the business delivers against its five-year growth strategy.
Carl joins the business at an exciting time for Palletline which has recently announced an ambitious five-year strategic plan which will shape its future by building capacity, strengthening the network, innovating for efficiency, and expanding internationally - all while maintaining industry-leading service levels. This plan will see a GBP10m investment in growing hub capacity by another 6,000 pallets per night, including further upgrades to the network's IT systems. With a career in logistics spanning more than 20 years, Carl brings strong commercial and operational leadership, coupled with experience of tech-enabled growth, and a collaborative, values-led style that closely aligns with Palletline's culture.
With an extensive track record of scaling complex, multi-site logistics operations, Carl has over the years led national multi-site operations, overseen complex start-ups requiring thousands of new hires, delivered significant commercial growth and introduced digital and automated solutions to improve service, margin and operational resilience. Carl joins Palletline from Wincanton, where he was Managing Director of e-fulfilment, having substantively grown the operating revenue, led significant change across the shared-user home delivery network and successfully integrated a multi million pound acquisition. Prior to this, he spent more than a decade at Clipper Logistics, playing a senior leadership role in scaling the business, culminating in its acquisition at a valuation close to GBP1bn.
Crucially, Carl is recognised for his belief that engagement is a leading indicator of performance, with a strong bias towards internal development, promotion from within and building environments where people feel valued and want to stay. His leadership style is both collaborative and entrepreneurial, with a strong focus on bringing people with him through change -- an approach that closely reflects Palletline's cooperative network, member owned model and emphasis on collaboration across the network. Graham Leitch, Palletline's CEO said: "Carl brings a rare combination of commercial insight and operational leadership, with a strong track record of delivering growth at scale.
He understands how technology, people and service need to work together, and his collaborative, values-led approach is a natural fit with Palletline's culture and network model. His appointment is an important step as we continue to deliver our five-year strategy." Carl Moore added: "Palletline's unique member-owned network, strong values and focus on service and collaboration really resonate with me.
I'm excited to be joining the business and working with the members, the network and the wider team to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen engagement and continue to evolve Palletline's offering whilst maintaining the market leading level of service for which Palletline is renowned."
Carl will work closely with Graham Leitch and the Board during the transition period ahead of formally assuming the CEO role on 1 July, ensuring continuity and momentum as Palletline progresses its long-term strategic plans.
