M5 traffic jam as fire breaks out on motorway
Traffic queued on the M5 after a vehicle caught fire on the motorway at the Gloucestershire border. The northbound exit slip road at J8 closed shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, March 11. Traffic monitor Inrix reported: "M5 Northbound exit slip road closed, queueing traffic due to vehicle fire at J8 (M50 Interchange)."
National Highways traffic cameras showed huge queues in the area, with similar delays reported on the M50. The road reopened and traffic had cleared by around 7pm. We will keep you updated with our live blog below.
