M5 crash stops all traffic northbound

The M5 has now reopened after all traffic was being held this afternoon following a crash on the M5 northbound in Gloucestershire (Sunday, March 29). Traffic was stationary between Junction 14 B4509 in Thornbury and Junction 13 A419 in Stroud. There was also a large diesel spillage as a result, National Highways said.

The traffic monitoring service INRIX reported the incident just before 1.50pm: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M5 northbound from J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield) to J13 A419 (Stroud)." The M5 northbound entry slip road is also said to be "partially blocked" with "very slow traffic" following the incident. This is an evolving situation and we will be bring you updates as they come in.

It has now bene confirmed that the M5 has reopened.
