M40 motorway to shut

The busy stretch of motorway between junction 12 for Gaydon and 11 for Banbury will be shut for a working week. Across five nights, workmen will be carrying out maintenance works requiring lane closures and slip road closures while a diversion route will be in place. The motorway will be shut from 10.15pm to 6am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (March 2 to March 6).

The closure is expected to cause disruption for motorists, especially lorry drivers, coming into Oxfordshire for the A34 at Bicester or continuing southbound for the M25, London or Heathrow Airport from the Midlands.

Northbound will remain open during this time.
