M4 traffic held after crash near Bristol

The M4 was closed near Bristol after a "serious" crash involving a car transporter during rush hour this morning (Wednesday, March 11). The incident happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 20 (for the M5) and juction 21 (for the M48). Avon and Somerset Police[1] said the M4 was closed and that emergency services were at the scene of the "serious" crash.

National Highways said there were delays[2] in the area as motorists were urged to avoid the area.

The M4 reopened at around 9.50am.
