Kafe Kumho Truckstop Review: QVSR Seafarer Centre

Although this is not strictly a Truck Stop, we thought it was worth featuring. QVSR is a charity established in 1843 to support ship crews, many of whom spend months at sea. The organisation has locations in Tilbury, the London Cruise Terminal, DP World London Gateway, Felixstowe, Bristol, and Immingham.

The Tilbury site is right next to the newly opened electric HGV charging hub operated by FLEETE, which has 16 charging bays. The QVSR centre is open for freshly cooked food and refreshments from 13:30 to 21:30 daily with a lounge area open 24/7. This has a pool table, sofas, satellite TV, vending machine and table football.

There are toilets and a shower on sight Outside there is a large seating area and a basketball court. The interior decor is deliberately very 'London' to appeal to visiting international crewmembers, enabling them to take selfies in a red phone-box and purchase traditional 'British' souvenirs to take back home. QVSR Tilbury is situated roughly equidistant from the HIRECO and PURFLEET Truck Stops, but there is no HGV parking available on site, unless you're recharging at the FLEETE hub or waiting to be loaded or unloaded at a nearby dock or one of the many warehouses on the docks.

There is a good stock of books and DVDs to help you pass the time, plus a karaoke machine if you really feel in the party spirit.

And if you need a bit of solitude, there is also a multi-denominational chapel area.
Definitely worth checking out if you visit the docks often and want something different.
