Two people were left hurt following a six-vehicle crash on the M66, police have confirmed in an update.
The crash happened on the southbound side of the motorway between junctions one and two near Edenfield just after 10pm last night (Sunday, February 15). A full closure was put in place[1] as emergency services responded.
A Greater Manchester Police[2] spokesperson has confirmed this morning that six vehicles were involved in the crash, following National Highways' report of four vehicles involved. Two people were left hurt, though their injuries were not through to be life-threatening or life-changing, the spokesperson added.

The motorway was closed off for several hours overnight amid the emergency response. All lanes were reopened at around 1.30am on Monday following recovery and clean-up works.
National Highways said on Sunday evening: "Emergency services are in attendance and traffic has been held while the incident is managed.
Greater Manchester Police are leading the response and will be carrying out collision investigation work at the scene.
"Due to the layout of Junction 1, which does not provide a suitable southbound exit slip, the closure is being implemented at the A56 Edenfield junction to safely manage traffic."
