Greater Manchester Police ram dangerous driver in dramatic footageA car travelling the wrong way on a major motorway was rammed by police following a dramatic chase. Video footage shows the chase by Greater Manchester Police[1] (GMP) shows the chase that ended in three people in the car being detained.
An ANPR camera filmed police officers at around 7.22pm yesterday, Monday, February 16, to a potentially cloned or stolen vehicle.
The car was travelling on Bury New Road in Heywood, reported Manchester Evening News.[2][3]
Officers rushed to where the vehicle had been spotted, then began to follow it. The car pulled into a petrol station, and when the driver spotted the second police[4] vehicle nearby, they attempted to make off, GMP has said.
A chase began as the car went onto the motorway, followed by two police vehicles. The driver then tried to get off the motorway by performing an illegal U-turn following a pursuit.

The force said: "This posed a significant risk to the public going the wrong way on the motorway and required immediate tactical intervention from officers.
Officers successfully quartered the vehicle twice, ensuring it stayed on the motorway.
"After a four-minute pursuit, officers made tactical contact bringing the vehicle to a stop.
Two police vehicles were significantly damaged during the incident."
All three people inside the car were detained, and the driver was later arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
The two passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
