Police are urgently seeking witnesses and video evidence following a hit-and-run collision that left an infant with severe injuries. Officers from Lancashire Police were called to the M6 slip road at Junction 29 at 4.25pm on Friday after receiving reports that a white Ford Transit van had struck three stationary vehicles - a heavy goods vehicle and two cars.

A baby, travelling as a passenger in one of the vehicles, was immediately transported to hospital with serious injuries, whilst both the driver and passenger of the Ford Transit van absconded from the scene.

Lancashire Police have released a statement following yesterday's incident, which states: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage after a baby was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision on the Junction 29 slip road off the M6 northbound, at Bamber Bridge.

"Our officers were called to the slip road at Junction 29 at 4:25pm on Friday 13th February following reports a White Ford Transit van collided with three stationary vehicles (a HGV and two cars).

He added: "We are particularly concerned for them as we believe they sustained serious injuries in the collision, and strongly encourage them to come forward to us.

"I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance. If you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us."

Sgt Elliott continued: "We are also aware that there may be people who witnessed the collision that we haven't yet spoken to. If this is you, or if you know someone who was travelling on that road at the time, please let us know."
