Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash which shut the M60 motorway on Sunday (January 4) night. Emergency services were called at around 7pm to a crash on the clockwise carriageway[1] between Junction 16 and Junction 17 near Prestwich, Greater Manchester.
The motorway was blocked by emergency crews and traffic was temporarily held with drivers advised to find alternative routes. Damaged cars could be seen in the centre of the motorway, including what appeared to be a police car, reports the M.E.N.[2][3]
Two people were taken to hospital, one of whom was checked over by trauma technicians from the fire service before being transported in an ambulance from the scene.
The motorway was reopened at around 8.10pm. Further details have not yet been confirmed by police.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just after 7pm today (Sunday, January 4), fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M60 Clockwise between junctions 16 and 17.
"Two fire engines from Agecroft and Whitefield attended the incident involving three vehicles.
