Road Safety Strategy is an Opportunity
Responding to the publication of the Road Safety Strategy today, Maddi Solloway-Price, Head of Road Freight & English Regions Policy at business group Logistics UK said: "Logistics UK supports the publication of the new Road Safety Strategy and all initiatives to reduce deaths and serious injuries are critically important for our members and their teams. "Our sector already leads the way on safety standards - commercial drivers are highly trained professionals and companies invest heavily in road safety whether its advanced cameras and collision avoidance systems or mandatory periodic training.
"Logistics UK anticipates working closely with the Department for Transport on the National Work-Related Road Safety Charter pilot scheme, and we will also seek to participate fully on the Expert Advisory Panel that will advise the new Road Safety Board. "Road safety is a shared responsibility and our sector stands ready to work with ministers to ensure that new measures are practical, evidence-based and support the people who spend their working lives on Britain's roads and keeping the UK's economy moving." Logistics UK is one of the UK's biggest business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods.
With decarbonisation, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.
Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, water and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
