This is the moment armed motorcyclists led police officers on a dramatic high-speed 90-minute chase as they drove the wrong way through motorway rush-hour traffic.

Jake Fagan and Connor Mitchell, both 29, had blocked the road in front of a terrified motorist and threatened her with a knife in the Cheshire town of Ellesmere Port.

The men smashed a back window of the woman's vehicle before fleeing the scene on the motorbike during the road rage incident on the afternoon of July 18, 2024.

This led police on a lengthy pursuit across three force areas into Merseyside, across to Chester, then on to Frodsham and into North Wales, before back into Chester.

The motorcyclists went at speeds of up to 90mph in the chase while both the driver and passenger were looking at their phones - and driving the wrong way on the M56.

The dramatic pursuit aided by a police helicopter features in the first episode of a new series of Police: Suspect No.

1 which airs on Channel 5[2] at 9pm this evening.

Three exclusive clips from the episode were shared with the Daily Mail today, with the first revealing the audio from the motorist's tearful 999 call at about 2.45pm that day.

She is heard saying: 'Hi, someone on a motorbike has just put my back window through on my car. They just stopped with a knife. They just tried to get in my car they've smashed my windscreen.'

The call handler replies: 'I know you're in shock, okay, of what's happened.

So when they came to your car and tried to get in...?'

The woman replies: 'I tried to get away, I locked the door because I've locked the door because I thought they had a knife.'

She then confirms there were two motorcyclists on a black motorbike, adding: 'They turned the opposite way, so they've gone.'

The next clip shows the men being tracked by a National Police Air Service helicopter as they try to evade capture by going through a red light before driving the wrong way down a slip road onto the M56 in rush-hour, weaving around traffic.

The third video shows the moment police finally intercept the men with a stinger, which eventually led to both being arrested following a chase on foot.

Fagan was identified as the rider while Mitchell was the passenger.

The suspects got rid of a bag during the pursuit which was later recovered and found to contain class A drugs.

During a police interview, Fagan punched and headbutted a wall, causing two holes, and was further arrested for criminal damage.

Fagan, of Exeter Road, Ellesmere Port, pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court to section 47 assault, possession of a knife, criminal damage, possession with intent to supply class A drugs - cocaine, handling stolen goods, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison, and disqualified from driving for five years and 28 months.

Mitchell, of Farmdale Drive, Elton, pleaded guilty to possession of a knife and possession with intent to supply class A drugs - cocaine.

The assault charge Fagan was sentenced for also related to an incident four days earlier on July 14, 2024.

A man had been on Eton Road in Ellesmere Port, when two men on a motorcycle approached him. They made threats, before Fagan assaulted him.

Cheshire Police Detective Constable Demi Brownrigg said Fagan and Mitchell 'clearly showed no regard for the safety of members of the public by leading police on an incredibly dangerous pursuit'.

She added: 'The pursuit crossed into three separate police force areas, however, thanks to our officers working together, we were able to keep up with the suspects and eventually bring their alarming behaviour to an end. This included bringing them to court for class A drugs offences.'
