M6 live traffic updates as lanes closed after car fire and crash

There is queuing traffic on the M6 today due to a car fire and crash. According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, multiple lanes have been closed due to the fire on the M6 northbound, just before junction 19. There has also been accident just before junction 18[1] heading northbound[2] at Middlewich/Holmes Chapel.

Queues are building[3]. Pictures from the scene showed a vehicle on fire, with smoke billowing into the air from the motorway[4]. A spokesperson[5] for the Cheshire Fire[6] Service said: "Firefighters are currently at the scene of a vehicle fire on the M6 Northbound near to Junction 19.
