M6 closure for road repairs between junctions 39 and 40

The M6 southbound between junctions 39 and 40 will be shut from 10pm to 6am on Tuesday, January 27. A diversion will be in place via the A6, with speed warning signs installed along the route. In a post on social media, National Highways: North West wrote: "We need to close the M6 southbound between junctions 39 and 40 overnight on Tuesday 27 January to carry out urgent surface repair works.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"These repairs are essential to keep the motorway safe for all road users.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carry out this important work."
